Julie Bidstrup (b. 1977) is inspired by contrasts and stories and the idiom we find somewhere between raw street art and graffiti, the old impressionists, pop art and Tim Burton's angular universe. Graphic elements from product sheets and engineering drawings are often used to give the works sharpness and depth - and it is her characteristic to let messages hide in the many layers of the canvas.

The theme in her pictures is often about patterns, chaos and strange destinies, which make you want to lend a helping hand. When you go a layer deeper, you see that the symbolism often hides both edges and social problems, but also hope, where most works point to help and the light ahead.
