Numbered and signed by the artist

For the rest of life

You should choose a giclée print when you need something very special for yourself or as a gift for others.

What is a Giclée?

The giclée is related to the lithograph, but is made with a different printing method. At Bidsart, the original work is photographed in many small mosaics, which the artist and printer then work on digitally. Colors and depth are fine-tuned. The artist decides how many copies will be printed of this particular work.

At Bidsart we only make the specified number and therefore our giclées do not come in multiple formats and sizes. And when they are sold out, there are no more. Exactly as with original works.

keeps color for 100 years

The giclée technique was invented in its time to be able to preserve historical documents for posterity. Therefore, it was important that the ink was lightfast, so that the print did not fade over time, as ordinary prints do. Ordinary poster prints are typically made with the 4 basic colours. Then there are 4 dies in the printing machine. The giclée print has 12 dies with colors. In this way, we achieve a much greater depth in color range and nuances.

See the picture here, which is a print. The original has the velor wallpaper applied to it. But the print is so faithful to the detail that it looks like you can feel a difference in texture. We don't get any closer to the original feeling. And then there is a guarantee that this print will keep the exact color for at least 100 years. That, we think, is pretty awesome! Thus, a giclée print is something that will be passed down and bring memories along. It's also pretty awesome…
